It’s been so busy over the past few months that I’ve not written a blog post in ages, so picking up from my last post in (2015!), this is what’s been going on… in chronological order:
Under The Bed
We finished up last years Under the Bed tour in Canada Water Culture Space, and having received such a good response from audiences and reviewers we were sad to see it finish. This feeing didn’t last too long as 154 collective’s awesome producer Ben Rothera had soon secured a longer tour for autumn 2016. This is something we’re all excited about, and I’m especially looking forward to making music with James Dey and Hayley Youell again.
Imaginarium: Creating a Monster
To kick off 2016 I worked with the 154 Collective on the vibrant, multiplatform exhibition, Imaginarium. We took over the two spaces in Leeds’ Room 700 to create an immersive experience detailing and documenting the lives and history of the creatures that inhabit Leeds Central Library. All completely factual of course! I created soundscapes and soundtracks inspired by the library’s Victorian song collection using only sounds that I sampled during workshops.
The Chorões began the year with a performance at the Southbank Centre. We have more gigs booked for the summer/autumn months at some exciting venues so keep an eye on the events page.
Then in March Hayley and I spent a week at Slung Low’s HUB in Leeds working with Wayne Sables on Intense Attachment, an affecting dance/film/music/installation piece. We were all really happy with the dynamic emotional performances we gave. I’m looking forward to working with the group again in the future!
Walter Lemonface’s fantastical, citrusy face returned to my life in April when we began his epic 2016 tour (which is still going on). In fact, I am currently writing this in a beautiful Victorian arcade in Southport in between mini taster shows ahead of our full cinema run which starts tomorrow in Barnsley.
Coming up next…
Continuing Walter shows, more Intense Attachment shows, sound installations, a new theatre production called Cardboard Joe, more Under the Bed shows, Chorões gigs, and new solo work, among other things. Phew! So it’s a packed year then, with hopefully more time to update the blog before the end of 2016!
